According to Dr Edward kakungulu,the secretary general of HOSU and Dr Ddungu Henry the president of the society, The hematology and oncology society of uganda will be launched on the 14th February at four points by sheraton.He reported that the society will be fundamental in the stride towards advancement of care.

The Hematology and Oncology Society of Uganda (HOSU) is a professional organization dedicated to improving the diagnosis, treatment, and research of cancer and blood disorders in Uganda. Comprised of hematologists, oncologists, researchers, and other healthcare professionals, HOSU plays a pivotal role in advancing cancer and hematology care through education, advocacy, and collaboration.
Mission and Objectives
HOSU aims to enhance patient outcomes by promoting evidence-based clinical practices, fostering research, and strengthening healthcare systems. Key objectives include:
- Capacity Building: Providing training and continuous medical education for healthcare providers.
- Research and Innovation: Conducting studies to improve understanding and management of cancers and blood disorders prevalent in Uganda.
- Advocacy: Engaging policymakers to improve cancer care infrastructure, including access to diagnostics, treatment, and palliative care.
- Public Awareness: Promoting early detection and prevention strategies for cancer and hematologic diseases.
